LAURENS ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE was pleased to welcome 2,855 members and many guests to our 2018 Annual Meeting June 2. If you couldn’t make it, please allow me to recap the highlights:
- Stable rates: Your co-op is one of the fastest growing in the state, I noted in my report. Our finances remain sound. Thanks in part to steady growth and the wise leadership of your Board of Trustees, we expect rates to remain stable.
- Great employees: As Board Chairman Charles Adair noted, we are blessed with some of the best employees anywhere! LEC’s finest proved it again the night before the meeting when a storm interrupted service to about 4,000 members. Some of the linemen who worked at the meeting, in fact, had just a short rest before they came in to assist and welcome you to your meeting. Our crews had almost everybody back on before the event ended, a testament to their dedication.
- Dignitaries: While you, the members, are always our guests of honor at the annual meeting, we do appreciate the special friends of the co-op who attended—Gov. Henry McMaster, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan, who noted that he’s proud to be an LEC member, too. State Reps. Bill Chumley, Mike Pitts, Ashley Trantham and Mark Willis also took time out of their busy schedules to be with us. We appreciate all they do to look out for you, our members.
- Board elections: Members re-elected three trustees, Eddie Abrams, Leroy Blakely, and F.E. Hendrix. Congratulations to each of them.
Thanks again to all who attended the meeting! If you couldn’t be there, we hope to see you in 2019, if not sooner.
