October’s recipient of the employee Pay it Forward funds, Lineman Drew Munyan, paid forward $500 to Straight Street in Laurens.
The youth center, located downtown at 220 West Main Street, provides an avenue of spiritual and social growth off the public street where youth, ages thirteen through nineteen, can meet with their friends in a safe and fun environment.
Drew said, “Straight Street offers various opportunities for our youth through a faith based mission, led by an upstanding Board of Directors. I am thankful this group and facility exists in our community and I know the importance of it. I also understand the hard work and planning that goes into keeping the doors open.”
“I am excited to have the opportunity to support the efforts of Straight Street through Laurens Electric’s Pay it Forward program,” Drew added.
Straight Street Laurens is open Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. To enquire about the center’s current wish list or to volunteer, call 864-684-3337.
Through Laurens Electric’s Pay It Forward program, every Cooperative employee is entered into a random drawing to receive $500 to pay forward in any way they choose. Each month a new name is drawn, and the employee then has one month to apply the funds toward their own act of kindness.
This initiative is budget-neutral; the funds will come from Laurens Electric’s charity events, which employee volunteers make possible.
