Lineman Justin Brock paid forward $500 to the American Cancer Society.
Justin made the donation “in honor of my Granny Josie Lollis and in memory of my Papa Johnny Lollis.”
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With Global Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, the organization has regional and local offices throughout the country to ensure a presence in every community.
According to their web site, cancer.org, “We promote healthy lifestyles to help you prevent cancer. We research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatments. We fight for lifesaving policy changes. We provide everything from emotional support to the latest cancer information for those who have been touched by cancer.”
The American Cancer Society’s analysis tool estimates that in 2022 in the U.S., there will be an estimated 1,918,030 new cancer cases and 33,440 in South Carolina.
The organization has invested more than $5 billion in cancer research since 1946, to find more – and better – treatments, uncover factors that may cause cancer, and improve cancer patients’ quality of life.

Laurens Electric’s Pay It Forward program began in 2015.
Every Laurens Electric Cooperative employee is entered into a random drawing to receive $500 to pay forward in any way they choose.
Each month a new name is drawn, and the employee then has one month to apply the funds toward their own act of kindness.
This initiative is budget-neutral; the funds come from Laurens Electric’s charity events, which employee volunteers make possible.
