Lineman Todd Rush paid forward $500 to Amie Evans of Clinton to help with Christmas and household expenses following the tragic death of her husband Adam after a car crash on November 3.
Amie is a 2nd grade teacher at E.B. Morse Elementary School in Laurens where she works alongside Todd’s wife Melissa.
Melissa says, “Amie has the biggest heart and love for our students. It’s fitting that she receives this gift to help take care of her own children.
Todd adds, “The LEC Pay It Forward program is a great way to help others in our community. I wanted to help a local family, especially during the holiday season. Family is our most important blessing, and I know this season will be a difficult one for the Evanses.”
Laurens Electric’s Pay It Forward program began in 2015.
Every Laurens Electric Cooperative employee is entered into a random drawing to receive $500 to pay forward in any way they choose. Each month a new name is drawn, and the employee then has one month to apply the funds toward their own act of kindness.
This initiative is budget-neutral; the funds come from Laurens Electric’s charity events, which employee volunteers make possible.
Employees and the community will enable individual employees to help individuals in the community, and that’s a win-win situation.
