Service Coordinator Chris Bryant paid forward $500 for the purchase of Bibles for Laurens-based Christian outreach ministry Rugged and Committed.
The ministry seeks to connect sportsmen and women through faith and prayer via an outdoor platform.
Chris says, “People who hunt and fish are outside enjoying God’s creation, so the two concepts go hand-in hand.”
He serves on the deacon’s board at Union Baptist Church with one of the ministry’s founders, Clay Garrett, who put out the call for Bible donations. The group plans to offer them for free at its booth at the Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic in Columbia this spring.
Garrett says, “We have had an amazing time sharing copies of the Bible with people before at the Classic. God has blessed us with the opportunity to pray with, share with, and listen to others’ testimonies while attending this event.”
“I am blown away and blessed that Chris chose to pay it forward with our mission. It means a lot to us because it helps further God’s calling on this mission and the impact he wants to make.”

The Pay It Forward program began in 2015.
Every Laurens Electric Cooperative employee is entered into a random drawing to receive $500 to pay forward in any way they choose. Each month a new name is drawn, and the employee then has one month to apply the funds toward their own act of kindness.
This initiative is budget-neutral; the funds will come from Laurens Electric’s charity events, which employee volunteers make possible.
Employees and the community will enable individual employees to help individuals in the community, and that’s a win-win situation.
