Locate Supervisor David Wilson paid forward $500 to Thornwell, a non-profit ministry headquartered in Clinton and serving children and families in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
According to thornwell.org, 150 years ago, Dr. William Plumer Jacobs, a young minister of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, grieved for children and families devastated by the Civil War. A simple dream bloomed—a safe-haven where children and families could grow, heal, and thrive.
On October 1st, 1875, Thornwell opened its doors to 10 orphaned children.
Today, Thornwell provides residential, transitional, and foster care, as well as numerous services devoted to empowering children and strengthening families.
David said, “I believe every child deserves a chance at success.”
