Laurens Electric Cooperative awarded one of its Community Impact Initiative grants to Mount Zion Baptist Church Food Pantry during the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet on April 17.
The food pantry, located in Fountain Inn, distributes a variety of fresh foods and canned goods to around 250 community members in need each week.
This grant will help Mount Zion purchase freezers and coolers, allowing the pantry to store and provide more perishable items to the families it serves.
Laurens Electric’s Community Impact Initiative provides grants of up to $2,000 to support projects that enrich the quality of life for citizens in the communities the cooperative serves. Funding for the initiative comes from Laurens Electric’s annual charity events.
Community members can apply through their local Chambers of Commerce in Laurens, Mauldin, Simpsonville, and Fountain Inn. To learn more about the program, visit laurenselectric.com/grant.
