System Engineer Sarah Snider paid forward $500 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer.
Sarah said, “As a breast cancer survivor, I strongly believe for our daughters’ and granddaughters’ sakes, we need to put effort into researching the causes as well as treatment and survivorship.”
As the highest-rated breast cancer research nonprofit in the U.S., BCRF provides critical funding for cancer research worldwide. Since 1993, BCRF has raised more than $1 billion through a unique and streamlined grants program.

The Pay It Forward program began in 2015. Every Laurens Electric Cooperative employee is entered into a random drawing to receive $500 to pay forward in any way they choose. Each month, a new name is drawn, and the employee then has one month to apply the funds toward their own act of kindness.
This initiative is budget-neutral; the funds come from Laurens Electric’s charity events, which are made possible by employee volunteers.
